We stopped by Panzanella Pizzeria for the first time in 2019 right after they opened and were thrilled by their great pizza. There was only one slight “problem”: it was only a pizza takeaway joint. Over the years we have stopped by several times as they make amazing pizzas but it was always a bit of a letdown to bring it home to eat it!
But behold; in September 2024, they moved to a new address and opened in Pedersgata 7 and now they have a proper restaurant where you can sit down and enjoy the pizza! We went there on a Friday night in October and we walked into a bustling restaurant. The menu is still centered around pizza but with new facilities they have extended the menu to also include some starters, dessert (with gelato from the best gelateria in town Siddis gelato) and alcohol. We were tempted by the sharing menu but decided to have Burrata & Pachino and focaccia with lardo to start with and then pizza. They also have a small wine room now and it is of course filled with Italian wine and we had a bottle of Barbera d`Asti from Roberto Voerzio .
The starters were quite a treat – the burrata was creamy and lovely together with the tomatoes. It also worked well with the focaccia and the lardo (basically fat that was flavored with some rosemary) was heavenly good on the bread. The vibe in the restaurant was great – it was bustling and there was some music in the background, but it was still possible to have a conversation! We moved on to pizza and it was a treat to have it fresh out of the oven! Nikki has the Panzanella pizza with San Marzano tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, olives and of course 'Nduja to give a bit of a kick. I had the Ragu pizza that came with Fior di Latte, Ragù alla Bolognese and parmesan chips. This was indeed a feast for the eyes and the palate. I rounded off the evening with a tiramisu which made the evening perfect!
Congratulations to Panzanella on the opening of the new restaurant. The pizza is still amazing and I’m very happy to see that the menu has been extended with a tasting menu, starters and wine. We look forward to returning soon to try out the tasting menu!
