Note that Skagen Brasserie has closed permanently.
We stopped by Skagen Brasserie on a Thursday afternoon to have a dinner before we headed to the cinema. Skagen Brasserie is located on the Skagen side in downtown Stavanger and it is located where Al Forno used to be (next to Døgnvill and Bevaremegvel. Here you will find two floors open for guests, a few seats outside and live music on Fridays and Saturdays.
The menu is dominated by burgers and meat - maybe that's why they added Grillhouse to the name on the homepage. We decided to have burgers and fish & chips. It did not take long before the burger was served, and it was an impressive tower! Luckily, we got a knife and fork so we could "disassemble" the burger. The meat itself seemed to be well done - we were not asked about it when we ordered. Fish & chips was served on a platter with fish (of course), a small salad, fries and some lemon/remoulade.
I thought this worked very well - very good fries, great with a small salad and the fish was good. The remoulade was a bit basic, and it should have been lemon boats instead of slices. But all in all - a nice place to have an informal meal and a beer in downtown Stavanger.
